Jagoba Arrasate: “I am eager to see the team on the road against an opponent in good form”

The head coach spoke to the media ahead of Monday’s clash against Sevilla F.C.

Osasuna head coach Jagoba Arrasate spoke to the media ahead of Monday’s match against Sevilla at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. CET (8 p.m. GMT, 4 p.m. ET). Arrasate said he is eager to see his team back on the pitch, emphasized the need for continued improvement despite last week's win, and acknowledged Sevilla's strong form.

“I am eager to see the team play on the road against an opponent in good form. After last week’s win and a week of training, we are excited about tomorrow’s match,” Arrasate said.

Arrasate cautioned that last Sunday’s win over Real Racing de Santander should not make the team complacent. He said Osasuna must keep working if it wants to win more games. The Rojillo gaffer contrasted the previous home game with the upcoming road test, acknowledging the added difficulty of playing away.

“It is a different opponent than Racing, but we want to see the same Osasuna. I don’t want to see a different team on the road. We need to step it up a bit and create another positive result tomorrow.

“Winning brings joy, but you have to analyze it objectively. We have studied our training sessions, watched film, and know where we are coming from. I think we can improve, but we have to put in the work.

“Just because you win a game doesn’t mean you stop working. I am ready to see the team on the road to see if we can be competitive. We have to do our part.

“Having a solid backline the other day doesn’t mean we can rest on our laurels; we can do even better. Scoring two goals and creating more chances doesn’t mean we are creating enough. The same goes for set pieces. I believe we can improve in every aspect of the game,” Arrasate said.

Arrasate praised Sevilla’s current form, noting their 4-2-3 record. He pointed out that Sevilla’s three losses have come against the league’s top three teams.

“They are well organized, have a good coach, and are a team that goes forward, wins duels and doesn’t let you have the ball. They know what they want. Their three losses were all against top teams, so I don’t really factor those games in. Set those aside, and Sevilla has four wins and two draws. They are playing well, and it will be a tough match,” Arrasate said.
